In COMET Centres, companies conduct research together with research institutions on a multi-year research programme. COMET centres that conduct excellent, cooperative research at a high international level and set new research impulses are funded. They build up corresponding competences and human resources and offer researchers a wide range of training and further education opportunities.
What is being funded?
Funding is being provided for a multi-year research programme at a centre of excellence geared towards the strategic interests of science and industry. While the research topics are open-ended, the individual projects must have a clearly defined theme.
Who is eligible?
The funding recipient (and contractor) is exclusively the COMET centre itself, which leads the consortium. This consists of at least one scientific institution and at least five independent companies from Austria and abroad.
