My Research in one Picture - Photo Competition 2021
Research Communication is an important and at the same time a challenging activity for many researchers. To help early stage researchers communicate their research and become more visible we are organizing the photo competition: “My Research in one Picture”.
Your research is making a difference – show us how: If you are an early stage researcher (doctoral candidates and PostDocs) at the University of Vienna you are invited to submit a photo/image illustrating your research. An accompanying abstract should explain how the image is embedded into your research. We are looking for fascinating, informative pictures which innovatively show your research. In addition to the opportunity to make one's own research accessible to a broad public in a creative way, there will be prizes for the best three submissions.
The first place wins 400 €, the second place 200€ and the third place 100€.
Competition requirements:
- Send us your picture and an abstract of 800-850 words (in English or in German) with the picture title and the name of your department/faculty by the 12th of April 2021 to event.doktorat@univie.ac.at.
- Please note that the picture should have a high resolution (min. 300dpi). Black and white as well as color pictures are allowed. They should be in landscape format (4:3). If necessary, we will adjust the size to the required format.
- Only images which have been created by the respective submitter will be accepted.
We are looking for exciting, aesthetically pleasing images with high information content that innovatively represent the respective field of research. After a pre-selection, the public will vote via social media which 10 images will advance to the second round. For this purpose, the images will be released for voting on the Facebook page of the University of Vienna from the 23rd to the 30th of April 2021 (12:00).
The best 10 images will be printed and judged by a jury during an Arts & Science event at the end of June. The details of the event will be announced in due time.
The Center for Doctoral Studies reserves the right to publish the pictures and the abstracts. Of course the author of the picture will always be mentioned. Please keep in mind that any form of fraud will lead to an exclusion from the competition.
